1991 National Yunlin Institute of Technology was founded as a four-year industrial design department
1992 Establishment of the Department of Two-Year Industrial Design program
1994 Establishment of the Institute of Industrial Design Master's program (divided into industrial design , visual communication design and interior design)
1995 Visual Communication Design Group becomes an independent department
1997: Interior design group becomes an independent department
2006: Discontinued two year college programe in the industrial department
